PG6009 ‘Graduate Information Literacy Skills’ 


The Library will be running the 5 ECTS Credit Module – PG 6009  ‘Graduate Information Literacy Skills’  – from the 13th to 19th November.  Designed for PhD and Research Masters students, the November delivery will be aimed primarily at College of Arts, Celtic Studies & Social Sciences, and the College of Business & Law. The course will provide an introduction to the principles and practice of Information Literacy, as applied to postgraduate research.

The module will consist of the following units:


  • Unit 1: Research Resource Discovery
  • Unit 2: Using the Web Effectively & Evaluating Research Resource Results
  • Unit 3: Tracking Down Results & Keeping Up-to-Date
  • Unit 4: Managing Your Information
  • Unit 5: Ethics in Using Information
  • Unit 6: Publishing and Disseminating your Research
  • Unit 7 (Optional): Using Archives for Research in Ireland
  • Unit 8 (Optional): Using Special Collections for Research in Ireland



Note: If participants cannot attend all sessions in November, it will be possible to attend sessions (complete the module) in February.
