CONTEXT:
IE BL/SC/H is original writings by Alfred Edward Hurse held in UCC Library. The item was acquired at Mealy’s Auctioneers, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny in 2006. Stamped on the original folder cover is “Dr. Philip G. Lee” – there are letters from Hurse within the folder.

Draft typed copy with mss corrections of Monkstown and Passage West, Co. Cork, Some Notes, Historical, Archaeological & Otherwise by A.E. Hurse (M.Inst.C.E.), [presented to the Cork Historical & Archaeological Society “with the Author’s Compliments”]. Includes 3 mss letters from Hurse to Dr. Philip G. Lee; blue-print of Monkstown churchyard (The Church of the Fairy Palace) “apparently on site of ‘Legan’ Benedectine Church”, with typed legend of “Inscriptions on Tomb Stones”; typed examination paper; mss list of negatives photographs of Monkstown/Passage West; and original prints (now faded) of photographs of the areas of Passage West, Glenbrook and Monkstown. 154pp & 3 enclosures
