CONTEXT:

IE BL/SC/WW is a published material by W.H. Welply held in UCC Library. The item was acquired at Mealy’s Auctioneers, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny in 2006. Stamped on the original folder cover is “Dr. Philip G. Lee” – there is a letter from Welply to Lee within the book.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE:

This is a notebook of a series of bound copies of the pamphlet Notes and Queries in which W.H. Welply has contributed with a series of articles on Colonel Robert Phaire. Inside the front cover is typed index to the pages of the Welply articles in the pamphlets.

A hardboard notebook containing a collection of volumes from Notes and Queries: a Medium of Intercommunication for Literary Men, General Readers, etc., with emphasis on articles by W.H. Welply on “Colonel Robert Phaire ‘Regicide’, His Ancestry, History, and Descendants”. Includes mss letter from W.H. Welply, Belfast, to Dr. Lee, thanking him for his favorable comments on his articles and the possible reproduction of them, with comments on the current political troubles (3 March 1923). Also glued-in typed notes on the pages of the Phaire articles.  159pp & enclosure.
