Mss letter from Laurence Ferlinghetti, City Lights Booksellers & Publishers, San Francisco, California, to Ron Whitehead, Louisville, Kentucky, asking him to send him the text of “Beaver Dam Rocking Chair Marathon” and gives his opinion on Grove/Atlantic Publishers. There are illustrations on the letter by Ferlinghetti. Includes an anti-Bush flyer “Bushspeak:”; and notes written on the accompanying envelope re-organising of INSOM 2005.  3 items

Mss letter from Laurence Ferlinghetti, City Lights Booksellers & Publishers, San Francisco, California, to Ron Whitehead, Louisville, Kentucky, describing his feelings about Whitehead’s poem “Rocking Chair” and poetry in general “I’ve come to the conclusion that the supreme test of the poetry itself is to make it without any other sound – the unaccompanied, unaided voice by itself – the real test of the poet”. Includes an invitation to a reading of Ferlinghetti’s poem “Americus, BookI”.  3 items

Mss letter from Laurence Ferlinghetti, City Lights Booksellers & Publishers, San Francisco, California, to Ron Whitehead and Sarah, Louisville, Kentucky, apologising for not spending more time with them on their recent visit.
