A text version follows below.

Once you have found the item you wish to borrow (click here for information on finding items in the library) take it to one of the 4 machines on the ground floor or to the machine on Q+2.

To use the Self-Issue you will need a valid Library Card (Student Card, Staff Card or External Reader Borrowing Card).

Scan the barcode on your Library Card under the red light. This will activate your library account.

Please note you will not be able to borrow books if you have items overdue or fines on your account. In these cases the machine will tell you that you have “unresolved issues” with your account and you must contact the Library & IT Desk.

Place the book in the V with the barcode on the front cover facing up. Slide the book up until the barcode passes through the red light. If the book is successfully checked out a Green box will appear on the screen and the machine will make a “thunk” sound. Books that have been checked out in this session will appear on the right hand side of the screen. selfCheckdemo3small
selfCheckdemo4small When you have checked out your items you can press the ‘touch here to end’ button. This will provide you with a receipt giving you the dates that your books are due back. You can also choose an 'Email Receipt' option. If you do not require a receipt press the “No Receipt” button. We advise that you print or email the receipt and retain it for your information.

Please note you will not be able to borrow books if you have items overdue or fines on your account. In these cases the machine will tell you that you have “unresolved issues” with your account and you must contact the Library & IT Desk.
