Accessing UCC Library > Company/Organization

What services are available?

Companies/Organisations may choose to apply for:

  • Consultation  (Reader Only Card)
  • Borrowing (Card in name of Company or Individual)

The Company/Organisation has access to the Library for Consultation (consulting resources within the Library) or for Borrowing, depending on the level of service agreed.

Each Registered Borrower is entitled to borrow four items excluding short-loan books, identifiable by yellow labels on the spine and High Demand Collection identifiable by blue labels on the spine. As UCC Library's primary purpose is to serve the needs of its staff and students, this material is not available for borrowing as it is in high demand and would conflict with the needs of the students.  This material is classed as essential reading for students and would be on a current Reading List.

Certain categories of material may only be used for consultation in the Library, i.e. reference works and periodicals.
The normal loan period is 2 weeks - renewable twice in person, online, by telephone and email, subject to recall if it is required in relation to academic courses or by another reader.

Due to the terms of our Licence Agreements with publishers, off-campus access to electronic resources cannot be made available to Companies/Organisations.

To give priority to UCC students, during the busy pre-examination period (March-May) we ask that where possible, external members do not use the Library as a place for study.

Companies/Organisations accept Library Regulations by becoming members and as such are subject to the same rules applicable to all other members including fines for retaining material beyond the loan period.  These rules/fines will be applied to the Company/Organisation if the Borrowing Card is in the name of the Organisation.  However, if the Borrowing Card is in an individual name, this person is responsible.
Please note that membership may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Librarian.
