Print/Copy/Scan FAQ

To print or copy, you will need a student smartcard with sufficient funds on the card.  You can top up your card online or at the cash machine in the Q Floor Photocopy Room (notes only).

There is more information on the Smartcard Office website.

Printing is networked in UCC Library.  Work may be printed from any IT Services PC in any location within the Boole Library, Boston Scientific Health Sciences Library and in many other locations across the campus.  Printing is also available through the wireless network for those who have already set up this function on their device.

Click here for more information on wireless printing.

There are 8 multifunction devices (MFD - Print/Copy/Scan) in the Copy Room on Q floor and 4 in each of the Copy Rooms on Q+1, Q+2 and 3 on Q+3. There is also 1 MFD in the Boston Scientific Health Sciences Library. You can also retrieve print jobs in any of the IT Services Labs around campus.

Photocopying facilities are available in the CUH Library but this system uses photocopy cards which can be purchased from the CUHL desk.

Print jobs must be retrieved within 6 hrs otherwise, they will be deleted.

There is colour and A3 copying available on Q floor and Q+3. (Colour and A3 printing is not currently available)

Scanning to USB is available on all MFD (colour scanning is not currently available). There is no cost for scanning to USB.

To scan to usb follow these instuctions:

  • Insert USB key
  • Place document to scan on the device
  • Select Workflow Scanning
  • Select USB template
  • Hit the green button to scan document

Readers are reminded that the copying of material is permissible only under certain conditions and are asked to read the notices displayed near the photocopiers in the library.  For further details of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000, consult the website here or the paper copy in the Law Library, Q+2.

How to save money on Printing

Always “Print Preview” before printing and then choose which pages you really want e.g. some web pages are made up of different frames (boxes) and each prints on a separate page.

Please visit IT Services for Students for more information.
